Vasileia Zormpa (Vassilia Zorba) is a Physicist Research Scientist in the Laser Spectroscopy and Applied Materials Group. Her work focuses on the development of next-generation spectroscopy tools based on ultrafast lasers. Her background includes femtosecond laser-material interactions, ultrafast near-field optics, and femtosecond laser spectroscopy and chemical imaging. She also has extensive experience with femtosecond laser based material functionalization, including nanoparticles, solar, field-electron emission and superhydrophobic/superhydrophilic surfaces. Her credits include 40 publications in peer-reviewed journals, 14 invited talks, 1 book chapter and an R&D 100 award in 2011. She holds a Ph.D. degree in Atomic and Molecular Physics from the University of Crete/Ultraviolet Laser Facility of LASERLAB-EUROPE at FORTH.
