From 1987 to 1997, Dr. Stoft worked in the electricity and appliance groups at LBNL. He spent the next year at FERC and then became an independent consultant. In 2003 he served as the expert economic witness for the CPUC before FERC in California's long-term electricity contracts case (appeal still pending). He is co-designer of ISO-NE's capacity market, and his book, Power System Economics, has been translated into Chinese and Russian. His current book is Carbonomics: How to Fix the Climate and Charge It to OPEC. He earned his Ph.D. in economics at U.C. Berkeley.
