Lixing (Timothy) Ding is a visiting scholar at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and is sponsored by the China State Scholarship Fund. Dr. Ding has over 20 years of experience in building environment, energy efficiency, HVAC equipment, and cryobiology. He is a professor and Director of the Institute of Built Environment and Control, Zhongkai University of Agriculture and Engineering in Guangzhou, China, and has been a professor in the College of Civil and Architectural Engineering, Central South University in Changsha, China since 2004. He received his Ph.D. in HVAC & Gas Engineering from Hunan University, China and his M.S. in Building Thermal Engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology, China. Timothy conducted additional research as faculty of Environmental Engineering, Warsaw University of Technology, Poland for one year on his most recent state-sponsored visiting trip. He has published 4 books, over 100 technical articles, and contributed to 13 China national codes and standards. His current research focuses on secondary contamination of biological microorganisms in HVAC systems, outdoor air dehumidifying systems with energy recovery, and standardization. He is the chairman of SAC/TC143/SC1 (National standard subcommittee on Industrial cleaning equipment for HVAC systems), a member of ISO/TC86/SC6 (International standard subcommittee on Testing and rating of air-conditioners and heat pumps) representing China, a member of ASHRAE, and an editorial reviewer of Journal of HV&AC.
