Karen Herter, Principal at Herter Energy Research Solutions has worked in the energy field for over fifteen years. From 1998 to 2006, she worked at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and the California Energy Commission, promoting and influencing the design and evaluation of the California Statewide Pricing Pilot, the first rigorous dynamic pricing pilot in the country. Karen earned her Ph.D. in Energy and Resources from the University of California at Berkeley in 2006. Since then, she has worked as a consultant to utilities, environmental non-profits, and state and federal government. Her current work involves research and advisory roles on customer-side smart grid issues including real-time information and control technologies, pricing strategies, program design, customer behavior, field study implementation and evaluation.
