Dennis Symanski

Dennis Symanski currently serves the chairman of the data/telcom center technical standards committee of the EMerge Alliance and senior project manager in the Energy Efficiency Program within the Power Delivery and Utilization Sector at EPRI. He is currently investigating ways to make data centers more energy efficient including coordinating demonstrations of emerging technologies such as the use of high voltage direct current (380 VDC) to run the data center hardware. Before joining EPRI in March 2009, Mr. Symanski worked on power quality standards and data center operation at Sun Microsystems and Data General, worked on relay coordination, electric vehicles and windmills at New England Electric System and worked on electric power generation, transmission and distribution at Exxon Research and Engineering. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University and a Master of Engineering Degree in Electric Power Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic University and is a Registered Professional Engineer in California and Massachusetts.
