
Professor Tang received his B.Sc. degree from the University of British Columbia 1970, and his Ph.D. degree from Cornell University in 1975. Since then, he had been with Eastman Kodak Corporation until a month ago, when he moved to University of Rochester as a professor of chemical engineering. Professor Tang is the inventor of organic light emitting diode, based on which a superior flat-panel display technology has been developed for applications from cellular phones to high-definition televisions. Professor Tang is also the inventor of organic hetero-junction diode, a milestone contribution to the field of organic opto-electronics. Professor Tang is a fellow of American Physical Society, a fellow of Society for Information Display, a Distinguished Research Fellow of Eastman Kodak Company, and a member of National Academy of Engineering.
