Allan Chen is the leader of the Environmental Energy Technology Division's Communications Office, which provides communications services to the Division, including graphics, website design and maintenance, and public information management. He is a science writer, and serves as editor of its quarterly newsletter, EETD News, and as public communications and media relations specialist for the Division. He's been with Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory since 1993.

He has a B.S. and an M.S., both in geophysics, from Stanford University. Allan has worked for Smithsonian and Discover magazines as a writer, reporter, and editor. He has also worked for Intel Corporation, implementing corporate and marketing communications projects. In 1993, he worked as a consultant to the Natural Resources Defense Council's Energy Program.
