Applications

Researchers at the Environmental Energy Technologies Division work to transfer new energy-efficient building technologies from the laboratory to the real world, and stimulate the use of underutilized, high-performance technologies through innovative deployment programs. They:

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate proven, cost-effective energy efficiency measures in existing buildings.
  • Assemble confidence-building demonstrations of emerging technologies and energy management practices not commonly used by building professionals.
  • Develop and disseminate state-of-the-art field guidelines and protocols, for example, for savings measurement and verification.
  • Demonstrate the potential for achieving energy savings while maintaining or improving indoor environmental conditions, such as reduced indoor air pollution, better lighting quality, and thermal comfort.
  • Transfer design and application methods and tools to private sector. practitioners such as architecture and engineering firms.
  • Support energy savings performance contracting at the national level.
