I am a chemist and my research is focused on both environmental science and energy storage technology. I got my B.S. and M.S. degrees in Peking University. Then I earned my Ph.D. at State University of New York at Stony Brook. My dissertation work was focused on atmospheric carbon monoxide source strengths from preindustrial times to present day. Then I changed the direction of my study to energy storage technology. I am currently working on the anode and cathode materials in lithium ion batteries.
Below is my professional experience:
Chemist Postdoctoral Fellow, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Berkeley, CA (2012-present)
- Investigate thermal stability of silicon anode in Li-ion battery
- Application of stabilized lithium metal powder (SLMP) in anode materials of Li-ion batteries
- Application of conductive binder in lithium sulfur (Li-S) batteries
Postdoctoral Associate, SUNY at Stony Brook, Stony Brook, NY (2010-2012)
Studied atmospheric carbon monoxide concentration and isotopic ratios over the last 5000 years and their implications on carbon monoxide budget and paleoatmospheric chemistry
Graduate Research Assistant, SUNY at Stony Brook, Stony Brook, NY (2005-2009)
- Successfully developed a technique to analyze atmospheric carbon monoxide concentration and isotopic ratios based on a cryogenic vacuum system and GC-Isotope ratio mass spectrometer
- Investigated atmospheric carbon monoxide source strengths in preindustrial times based on carbon monoxide concentration and isotopic ratios from polar snow and ice core
Graduate Teaching Assistant, SUNY at Stony Brook, Stony Brook, NY (2004-2005)
Application Development Engineer in Beijing Purkinje General Instrument Co. LTD, Beijing, China (2003-2004)
Developed new applications for the UV-VIS spectrophotometer and worked closely with R&D and customers on optimizing analysis procedure and to increase the sales of products
Research Assistant, Peking University, Beijing, China (2000-2003)
Studied volatile organic compounds (VOC) emissions from vegetations in China by using GC-FID
