
Didier Devaux holds an engineering degree from Grenoble Institute of Technology (France, 2006) with a specialization in physical chemistry and electrochemistry, particularly in the area of energy conversion and storage. Then he joined for a year Arkema Inc. and optimized membrane electrode assemblies of fuel cells at their research facility located in Pensylvannia (USA). With Arkema he also developed electrocatalysts for a biofuel to feed fuel cells at the Clean Energy Research Centre of Yamanashi University (Japan) under the supervision of Pr. Masahiro Watanabe in 2008. To pursue a careering in the research area, he chose to obtain a PhD at Aix-Marseille University (France) with an industrial perspective. The goal of the project was to develop a Lithium metal polymer battery. The PhD work followed by a 8 months post-doctoral position, consisted in formulating and optimizing block copolymer electrolytes and characterizing their physico-chemical properties as well as their application in battery cell at the MADIREL laboratory (supervisor: Pr. Renaud Bouchet). He is now a post-doctoral fellow in the group of Nitash P. Balsara on the electrochemical characterization of polymer electrolytes and their application in battery assembly.
