Dave Watson is a Program Manager specializing in controls and communications technology. He has conducted research, design and deployment of smart grids, smart buildings and automated demand response systems. At LBNL, Dave architected and helped manage the deployment of an automated demand response system that shed over 60 MW from the California Electric grid last summer. Dave was the lead author of upgrades that enable demand response in the 2008 California energy code (Title 24) and authored numerous publications on Demand Response and Energy Information Systems. He previously held product development and management positions at Honeywell, Coactive Networks and Echelon Corp. where he helped create hardware and software products that met the needs of utility personnel and other users. Dave holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, CA.
