David Daum received a Diploma in industrial engineering from the University of Karlsruhe, Germany in 2007. Currently he is doing a PhD at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland, in the Solar Energy and Building Physics Laboratory (LESO). His research interests include optimization and self-adaptation of intelligent home automation to improve energy efficiency and comfort levels
