MTConnect is a recently developed standard to address interoperability issues in machine tools and manufacturing equipment. MTConnect has been gaining popularity over the last few years in the manufacturing industry and has robust support for data collection from and integration of machine tools, process equipment, energy meters, sensors, and robotics. In this seminar we will talk about the MTConnect Standard, and focus  on its capabilities in monitoring energy and resource usage in manufacturing systems. We will also discuss how we are applying MTConnect at System Insights in building software and hardware tools that use big data analytics to improve energy and production efficiency in manufacturing systems and processes.
