
Rapid growth in energy-intensive industry and coal consumption in China and other emerging markets have accelerated global CO2 emissions in recent years. The talk will discuss this trend in light of international trade, the technological inertia represented by existing energy infrastructure, past projections of emissions and energy use, and the underlying relationship between economic development and energy services.
