As Energy Efficiency's Professional Accountants, the (E)M&V community is currently witnessing an explosion in new protocols. The Efficiency Valuation Organization (EVO), acting as the steward of the first globally-applied M&V protocol (the IPMVP) is but one of many organizations trying to understand what this proliferation in new methods for quantifying savings/impacts will mean for its supporters.  This talk will begin with a recent (past 20 years) history of M&V and EM&V protocols, followed by an update on a few of the major new protocols that are under development now.
