This presentation will introduce a method to assess thermal comfort by calculating building's cross natural ventilation with a CFD wind model and the simple thermal method Batipei to compute mean overheating inside the building by considering the envelope thermal behaviors, the outdoor thermal conditions and the mass flow rate. The wind simulation uses an advanced unstructured mesh and atmospheric turbulence model to evaluate the wind pressure coefficients on the facades and openings by taking into account influence of surrounding buildings and local climatology. An architectural case of urban renovation of old buildings in La Reunion Island will be presented as an example of the using of the combined approach.
