At least 80% of the buildings in Singapore to be ‘green’ by 2030” – this is one of the key national targets for the built environment under the Sustainable Singapore Blueprint. R&D is one key enabler to accelerate knowledge application and capability building to help achieve the national target. The Green Building R&D Workgroup was formed last year to drive efforts across the whole-of-government in a coordinated manner. The workgroup provides a platform for industry, research institutions and government agencies to work closely together to prioritise R&D focus areas and develop coordinated action plans. This brief presentation will highlight the key policies to promote green buildings, a number of completed and on-going R&D projects and the proposed framework to tackle the R&D challenges for new and existing buildings.
