
Dr. Khattar will present his experience of implementing sustainability and energy efficiency initiatives at a commercial enterprise. He will discuss how efficiency opportunities are identified and screened, and how break through innovations are accepted in fast paced business environments. Under his leadership several innovative programs and projects were implemented at Oracle that led to substantial energy and cost savings in buildings and data centers worldwide. He will elaborate how he managed to change conventional practices in data centers with novel solutions through systematic scientific approach. His discussions will include how to identify low cost solutions and implement cost effective opportunities even where automation and control systems capabilities are limited. A case study will showcase building energy use at Oracle’s HQ campus in Redwood Shores that continues to decline year after year, leading to a huge 32.6% savings over the last decade with return on investments exceeding 50%.
