As we push toward low energy buildings, understanding where and how energy is consumed in buildings is getting more and more important as this can help design more energy efficient new buildings and improve operation of existing buildings. While there are two approaches to get the building energy use data - simulated vs. measured, there are usually large discrepancies between them. This is mainly due to the fact that one is usually not done to help the other, and various uncertainties exist in either approach. This seminar will take a closer look at the main driving factors and discuss ideas to improve building simulation in order to better predict energy performance of buildings.
