Development of a Weather Database for Building Energy Analyses in China

Based on the observational weather data, the typical meteorological year (TMY) is developed for 360 Chinese locations. Temperature and solar radiation for air-conditioning design for these locations are also suggested on frequency analyses. The author divided China into seven regions according to the heating and cooling degree-days. Influence of climate change on air-conditioning load is discussed. Moreover, the thermal design code for Chinese residential houses is compared to that of Japan, and the differences between China and Japan are clarified.
