The ever increasing popularity of the USGBC LEED rating program has created new markets for building energy analysis services in the private sector. Ellen Franconi has provided these services for four years through her work at Architectural Energy Corporation (AEC). During this seminar, Ellen will describe AEC’s process for delivering green building energy analysis services. She will review the simulation tools used at AEC. Through project examples, she’ll discuss the challenges one faces in meeting project deliverables in a timely and cost effective manner. Specifically, she will discuss the energy modeling requirements for supporting the design team, following ASRHAE 90.1 Appendix G methods, satisfying LEED EAc1 energy modeling submittals, meeting LEED EAc5 M&V guidelines, and demonstrating EPAct 2005 and the commercial building tax credits compliance. Ellen will conclude the talk by summarizing the barriers AEC has come up against in trying to meet industry needs and a wish list to help reduce them.
