New York City is currently in the midst of a long term initiative to "green" up the city, and the city's energy supply is a key focus of that initiative. One of the many recommendations put forward by the Mayor is an effort to dramatically increase the total amount of CHP (combined heat & power) deployed around the city. Dr. Hammer will discuss the viability of this proposal, outlining current CHP deployment levels, projected citywide opportunities, and the interconnection and other policy impediments that currently make attainment of this goal a challenge. Dr. Hammer will also discuss other work taking place at his center related to microgrids, demand response, and buildings-related energy efficiency initiatives
