ENERGY STAR is a voluntary labeling program operated jointly by the U.S. Department of Energy (US DOE) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA).  US DOE and US EPA enter into partnerships with manufacturers and key stakeholders to promote products that meet energy efficiency and performance criteria established by the agencies.  The ENERGY STAR label allows consumers to more easily identify and purchase energy efficient products.  The ENERGY STAR label also provides a national energy efficiency platform for regional stakeholders such as utilities and energy partnerships.  By transforming the market for high efficiency products, US DOE and US EPA reduce air pollution and greenhouse gases associated with the consumption of energy. Since the program inception in 1992, ENERGY STAR has become a leading international brand for energy efficient products.  This seminar will summarize the ENERGY STAR program, ENERGY STAR guidelines, and major program efforts.  Marla Sanchez will present an overview of achieved energy savings as well as discuss hit and miss program strategies and critical factors for ongoing program success
