Bruce Riordan is a consultant on regional climate change issues for the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) and the Bay Area Air Quality Management District. In addition, he was recently trained by Al Gore and The Climate Project to present the Gore slide show on global warming to Bay Area audiences. Mr. Riordan will discuss work-in-progress for the Metropolitan Transportation Commission on strategies for reducing greenhouse gases from transportation in the Bay Area. The presentation will include strategies such as accelerated vehicle fleet turnover, land use, and increases in transit ridership, as well as market-based approaches. The basic approach is to identify transportation strategies that could fill the gap between the Pavley bill on vehicle GHG emissions (AB 1493) and California's AB 32 goals.
