LBNL researchers are active in a broad range of homeland security related research that spans the Laboratory and covers a broad range of topics from advanced detectors and sensors to improved solar cells, fuel cells, and batteries.  These projects use specialized LBNL expertise or unique facilities and complement the Lab's other unclassified research. I will talk about LBNL's Office of Homeland Security, the current portfolio of research projects, and what research challenges lie ahead.
