Founded in 2005, the Berkeley Energy and Resources Collaborative (BERC) is an ever-growing network of Berkeley students focused on the rapidly evolving energy and resources sector. BERC members represent the various specialties across the university relevant to energy issues, from business to public policy to engineering and environmental management. BERCs mission is to connect and educate leaders in energy and resources while also raising awareness of energy issues on the Berkeley campus. The group has harnessed growing levels of student interest in energy issues to rapidly expand its membership levels and initiatives. In 2007, BERC will host the first annual Berkeley Energy Symposium featuring energy innovation research at Berkeley. BERC is also responsible for the creation of a new Center for Energy Innovation, an academic center with a curricular goal of accelerating the process of taking energy technologies to market.
