The Agenda 21 demonstration energy-efficient office building was a collaborative effort between China's Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) and US Department of Energy (DOE). The projectstated 998, and construction was completed in Spring 2004. MOST was responsible for the basic construction costs for the building, while DOE agreed to provide the incremental costs for the energy-efficiency measures, which were in turn solicited from interested US venders. LBNL provided technical analysis and design recommendations. The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) solicited and coordinated the participation of US industry venders. The building obtained a LEED Gold rating, and was voted by an independent China Green Buildings Organization as the most "green" office building in China. Utility bills after one year of operation showed the building showed energy savings above 50% and water savings above 70% compared to comparable office buildings in Beijing. The presentation will include a 20-minute DVD explaining the building's energy features, and an analysis of its measured energy performance.
