
The Energy Policy Act of 2005 directs the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to certify an Electricity Reliability Organization (ERO) that will propose and enforce reliability standards for the bulk-power system in the United States. This talk will discuss: 1) Electricity reliability and how it is currently managed; 2) FERC's plans for and challenges in certifying an ERO; and 3) LBNL's efforts to support these activities through the Consortium for Electric Reliability Technology Solutions.
