The Demand Response Business Network (DRBizNet) is a concept developed through R&D, for a highly flexible, intelligent, communications-coordination-control network that is designed based on open interoperability standards to support demand response (DR) in California. Wide-scale adoption of DRBizNet architecture will facilitate an efficient electronic collaboration and transparent exchange of information between business entities in the California DR market, reducing the cost of the demand response infrastructure in California. The DRBizNet R&D project is funded by the California Energy Commission PIER Program and is managed by the California Institute for Energy and Environment (CIEE). The project consortium is lead by UISOL (www.UISOL.com) and includes Dynamic Networks, Nexant, Savvion, and TIBCO Software. This presentation motivates the need for DRBizNet, describes the key requirements that it should meet, and presents the proposed architecture and an implementation plan for its construction. It also describes a proposed field demonstration of DRBizNet that is currently being planned.
