The seminar will describe and critique the Australian approach to incorporating distributed energy resources into its restructured electricity industry, which consists of the National Electricity Market (a wholesale electricity market), retail electricity markets, network regulation and environmental regulation. These arrangements continue to evolve and recent developments will be discussed. Hugh Outhred is in the School of Electrical Engineering & Telecommunications at the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia. He is also a member of the National Electricity Tribunal ( a quasi-judicial appeal body associated with Australia's National Electricity Market). His research interests are in electricity industry restructuring and sustainability.
