Harmonics Limited manufacturers and distributes equipment which eliminates harmful harmonics from electrical distribution systems supporting high quantities of computers and other related office equipment. The proliferation of computer and other office equipment incorporating switch-mode power supplies, places significant thermal stress on the electrical distribution systems supporting these loads. In addition to 60 Hertz Power, the computer power supply also draws large amounts of, "harmonic currents". These currents provide no real work, however, they do take up capacity in the distribution system, consequently fewer computers can be operated per circuit. Additionally, harmonic currents impose heat throughout the electrical distribution system. System heat reduces the life of the distribution system, transformers, circuit breakers, etc., as well as reducing the operating life of the "plugged in" equipment. Operating cost are increased due to system heat in transformers and wiring, also by increased air conditioning requirements to remove heat. Presentation highlights to include; Why Harmonics are Created (types of loads), Problems Imposed on the Electrical System, Methods to Accommodate System Harmonics, Methods to Eliminate System Harmonics, Benefits of Harmonic Mitigation (Reliability and Energy Savings).
