DesignWorks is a new resource in Engineering Division that specializes in providing simple and cost-effective design engineering support to small and medium scope projects lab-wide.  This seminar will cover the processes and tools DesignWorks uses to accelerate the design cycle, including fast prototyping, flexible and diverse teaming, and a strong customer focus. Fast prototyping (including rapid prototyping, virtual modeling, and a ”gadget lab”) enables pushing test models up-front in order to minimize the risk of discovering design flaws in later stages of a project.  A flexible and diverse team opens up a greater number of concepts and solutions in order to home-in on the best design.  A strong, customer focus ensures that the solutions are to the right problems and the aspects of cost, schedule, and performance are properly balanced.
