Market Data
Government
Many other branches of the government provide market data pertaining to building energy use.
California Energy Commission
- Energy Directory
- An alphabetical, topical index to information contained in the Web Site, as well as links to more than a thousand other Internet sites about energy around the world.
- Appliance Efficiency Database
- This database will be updated every two weeks (usually on Fridays). The Energy Commission will eventually have its entire 65,000-item appliance database on-line with a user-friendly interface allowing more detailed searches for information on refrigerators, freezers, air-conditioners, furnaces, etc.
- California Historical Energy Statistics
- California Historical Energy Statistics illustrates California's historical energy trends from production to end-use and identifies the fundamental changes that have occurred in each over the past 10 to 20 years. While making use of data in other statistical reports, this document also includes energy information that is specifically collected by the California Energy Commission from the petroleum industry and California electric and gas utilities. The result is a more detailed compilation of California-specific information.
- DEER Database for Energy Efficient Resources
- Database for Energy Efficient Resources (DEER) is a computer software package and an associated database which contains extensive information on selected energy-efficient technologies and measures. The DEER provides estimates of the average cost, market saturation and energy-savings potential for these technologies in residential and nonresidential applications. Specific data for each technology include size, efficiency, energy savings, saturation by climate area and by utility area, and useful life. (Available for Purchase)
- Title 24, Part 6
- California Energy Efficiency Standards for Residential and Nonresidential Buildings
- The state building standards mandate energy efficiency measures in new construction. Since being first established in 1977, the building energy standards (along with standards for energy efficiency in appliances) have helped Californians save more than $11.3 billion in electricity and natural gas costs. The standards are updated every three years to allow new energy efficiency technologies to be considered.

City and County Data Books
This resource provides WWW access to the electronic versions of the 1988 and 1994 County and City Data Books. This service provides the opportunity to create custom printouts and/or customized data subsets.
The data presented here were obtained from the CD-ROM versions of the 1988 and 1994 County and City Data Books which were made available to over 1400 depository libraries across the country. The data on the CD-ROMs are presented as a series of linked dBASE files with an extraction utility (GO) for those without access to dBASE or a package that can read *.dbf files. By converting these files into SPSS files and then merging them into a single file for each year/level, we are able to offer a more flexible and convenient point of access.
