Fuel-efficient cookstoves could reduce fuel demand in Haiti and provide needed relief to the largely deforested country. The Gadgil Stove Lab conducted a third-party assessment of charcoal-burning cookstoves meant for dissemination in Haiti, providing the distributing NGOs and manufacturers with the stoves' efficiency and emission characteristics, which would otherwise be unavailable to them. The results of these tests were presented at the BERC symposium by Kathleen Lask and Jennifer Jones.
