Registration Information

General Information:

Six week camp sessions from July 11 through August 19 are planned for Summer 2005.
We have adopted the following enrollment approach in order to ensure that we can operate the camp for the lowest fees possible while covering our expenses. Registration opens March 18, 2005 and is limited to 30 campers per weekly session.

Scholarship Program:

Financial assistance is available for up to four children per week for students who could not otherwise afford to attend camp. The financial aid is a partial scholarship that reduces the fees to $95 per week. The four weekly aid packages will be divided equally between campers of Berkeley Lab and non-Berkeley Lab employees. Each family may receive only one week of financial aid during the six weeks of camp.

In addition to the required registration forms, applicants for financial assistance scholarships should submit: (1) a letter from the camper explaining his/her interest in science; (2) a letter from the child's parent or guardian explaining how the child would benefit from science camp; (3) a recommendation letter from a teacher or other adult, not a member of the child's family; and (4) a statement from the parent or guardian clarfying financial need (e.g. household monthly income, number of family members, major expenses).

Registration Fee/Schedule:

Registration Dates: March 18 through April 1
Fee: $200 per week

Late Registration: April 2 through camp (subject to availability)
Fee: $220 per week

The camp fee covers the core program from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The before and after camp care from 7:45 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. is available at no additional charge.

To register, print out the forms listed below, fill them out and send them to the following address, along with FULL payment per camper per week according to fee schedule described above:

Checks should be made payable to: Science Exploration Camp, Inc.
All forms MUST be completed and returned for your registration to be completed. You will be notified of your child's acceptance within 10 days of receipt of your registration packet.

Waiting List:

All applications for weeks that are already filled will be put on a waiting list and your check will be refunded. We will contact you as space becomes available. Please notify us if you DO NOT want your child's name on the waiting list.

Cancellations:

In the event of a cancellation, NO REFUND will be made unless the space is filled by another camper. If the space is filled by another camper, then the amount of the refund will be the tuition paid minus a $40 application processing charge (per camper). SEC reserves the right to cancel camp for any weeks that do not fill. If there is no space for your child or camp does not run for the week you are registered, your payment for that week will be fully refunded.
